Nutrition Services Department

Number: 719-845-4261

Our priority as the Nutrition Services Department is to provide excellent care through quality nutrition. Food is a key component to promote wellness and optimize recovery, so we offer individualized meal plans to meet every patient's specific nutrition needs.

Patients are given a menu that complies with the meal plan prescribed by their doctor or dietitian, which they use to select meal options for the following day. This innovative service system allows for more variety and choice in meal selections. If patients do not fill out the menu sheet, a pre-selected meal will be sent according to their meal plan specifications. We encourage family and friends to assist patients in selecting food choices, and to inform the staff of food allergies or intolerances when patients are unable to do so.

We have found that since implementing the "selective menu", patients are more satisfied with their food and enjoy meal times. This promotes faster recovery by providing their bodies with appropriate, sustainable nourishment during times when nutrient needs are increased or different than usual. Registered Dietitian Megan McNeil is available to discuss meal plans and other aspects of nutrition while in the hospital.

Meals are served to patients at the following times, and snacks are available upon request:

Breakfast 8:00

Lunch 12:00

Dinner 5:00

The cafeteria is open to guests and staff for breakfast from 8:00-10:00, and lunch from 11:00-1:00.
